737 Crash Landing

The 737 is the most widely used commercial aircraft. However, due to several 737 crash landings, Boeing has asked the pilots to pay special attention to the controls and gauges during take off and landing. The reason is that the altimeter was thought to be the cause of a recent 737 crash landing. In an offhanded way they were also asking pilots not to use auto-pilot while approaching landing. The Boeing that crash landed had been on autopilot. Seeing as how the 737 is the most widely used commercial aircraft, one might think they would take a closer look at their equipment to be sure they are operating correctly. The warning was issued for many of the 737 models and not just the 737-400 that had the crash landing.
