The only thing that can be worse than an airplane crash is one with airplane crash death victims. For several years, the airline industry was boasting about how fewer accidents and fatalities there were. The first 7 months of 2009 have proven to be very deadly. The airplane crash death toll for 2009 so far is 500. The numbers have not been that high since 2002. There is wide speculation as to why the increase number of airplane crash death victims. Since pilot error is responsible at least half of the time, some people have speculated (probably unjustly) that it stands to reason that either there is currently poor pilot training or there is something else terribly wrong. One airplane death is tragic but 500 is totally unacceptable for the relatives and some airline users. Things happen for a reason, and there must be a reason why 500 airline passengers have died in 2009.
