Airports Noise

Airports noise has become a growing problem, and one that is difficult to avoid. Large airports have become even larger, as many municipal airports become international airports. Small airports are remodeling and regrouping to become larger so that more flights can arrive and depart. Growth in air travel has caused the number of passengers to increase by more than 50% over the last several years. Common sense tells us that the more people who travel by air, the more noise will be caused by airplanes. The United States Department of Transportation has done studies, which estimate that air traffic will double in the next twenty years. If this is the case, airports noise will increase exponentially. There is really no way to stop airports noise, short of closing them all down. Fortunately, concerned citizens everywhere have recognized that in order to get something done about airports noise, they must work with mitigation programs designed to lessen the noises caused by planes taking off, landing, and departing.
