Civil Aviation Regulation

Civil aviation regulation is carried out through government agencies. Each country has its own set of regulations and governing board. In the United Kingdom the UK Civil Aviation Regulation Authority governs air travel throughout the country. Economic regulations, airspace policy, safety regulations, and consumer protection measures are all managed by this governmental agency. Other airline regulation groups in the United Kingdom include the Directorate of Airspace Policy and the consumer Protection Group. The directorate of Airspace Policy oversees airspace regulation and navigation in addition to monitoring the infrastructure of the UK airline industry as a whole. The Consumer Protections Group concerns itself with tour operators using airplanes in England and enforces all regulations. For example, the CPG sets forth a list of reasons that can cause a passenger to be denied boarding at check in. Finally, the airports, air traffic services, and airlines are held accountable by Economic Regulation which sets policy and gives advice to carriers and airport officials.
