Most aviation accidents occur on landings. Crash landings seem to be in the news a lot but actually, planes are relatively safe. While pilots are not taught "crash landings", they are taught how to maneuver the plane in different emergency scenarios. There are several stories in recent years of pilots who got through a crash landing without losing one single passenger, and against all odds. Crash landings do happen and a pilot may or may not be able to pull it off with little or no serious injury. While it is noted that most aviation accidents occur during landings, that is not when the most fatalities occur. Therefore, crash landings are not always the most lethal of aviation incidents. While pilot error still accounts for a good deal of plane crashes and aviation incidents, it is also clear that if they keep calm, many pilots can avert a disaster on a crash landing.
