It's on the news a lot; Jet crash landings. In some of the worse case scenarios, people died and in the best, everyone survived. The Aviation Commission has come under a lot of scrutiny lately over the amount of (or lack of) air safety. Most airline incidents take place on take off or landing and very, very few occur while actually in the air. More jet crash landings occur, but yet most fatalities happen during the take off after the planes flaps are up. The old adage that it is safer to fly than to take a car is being studied more closely. Considering most airline tragedies take place during take off and landing, it makes it a whole new ballgame. While jet crash landings may be rare considering the amount of commercial flights there are every day, the FAA continues to take heat until they begin to improve the odds for passengers.
