Plane Licence

The majority of pilots in the United States hold a private plane licence. The private plane licence is the most flexible non-commercial type of plane licence available. Any civilian who meets basic requirements is capable of earning a private plane licence, though it requires a fairly hefty investment (at $7000 on average), and 3-5 weeks of ground school before any flying actually occurs. Once a student has passed her first FAA written test and medical examination, she can get her student's plane licence and begin flying, but must have supervision from a qualified instructor. Any flying she does at this point is applied toward the flight experience requirement of the private plane licence. Once she has her private plane licence, she can fly without any of the restrictions that lesser certificated pilots have (such as being restricted to only one passenger), but she is still not able to charge for her flying services until she gets her commercial plane licence.
