I just got out of the hospital, after surviving a terrible helicopter crash landing. I suffered some severe burns and a broken leg. How should I go about trying to collect for my injuries?

You should hire a highly skilled attorney who can explain all of the legal issues involved with your case and help you obtain a full recovery for your injuries. Your lawyer’s office investigator will quickly start obtaining facts and evidence that will help determine who (or what) caused the accident. Important witness statements will also be obtained on your behalf.

You’ll probably want to speak with a personal injury attorney who’s handled a number of helicopter (or general aviation) accident cases. Note: Until you first meet with your

attorney, be sure to avoid giving out any statement to lawyers or insurance companies representing other parties involved in the accident. However, you may have to provide a brief statement to a government agency or law enforcement officials. The sooner you have legal representation, the better.

Be prepared to fully explain your entire helicopter accident scenario to your attorney, carefully noting what occurred just prior to the accident, as well as everything you can remember that happened immediately following it; crash landing videos or audio transcripts can also strengthen your case.
