Aircraft Accident Investigation and TSI
FAA aircraft accident investigation, instrument flight procedures, and flight inspection training is provided by the Department of Transportation's (DOT's) Transportation Safety Institute (TSI). The Institute is the primary element charged with providing training and technical assistance in transportation safety for all DOT operating elements. To further promote worldwide aviation safety, TSI also conducts aircraft accident investigation, instrument flight procedures, and flight inspection training for other federal agencies and for foreign governments.
TSI is one of America's foremost training institutes for studying civilian aircraft accident investigation and promoting accident prevention. TSI is also the globally recognized trainer for aviation systems training which consists of in-flight evaluation of air navigation facilities and the establishment of en route and terminal flight procedures. Evaluation of air navigation facilities is done in accordance with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) coordinated standards including global positioning systems (GPS).
TSI aircraft accident investigation training promotes standardization of investigation training for other U.S. federal agencies, military, industry, and foreign governments by allowing attendance of their investigators along with FAA inspectors and investigators.
