New Rules Regarding Commerical Air Travel In Hawaii
HONOLULU – The state Department of Transportation and federal Transportation Security Administration (TSA) have implemented new regulations at Hawaii’s commercial airports following a heightened security alert.
Because of additional security inspections, passengers are advised to arrive at the airport three hours before their overseas flight; and 1½ to two hours before their inter-island flight.
All liquids, gels and lotions are prohibited from passing through the security screening checkpoint and on commercial aircraft.
Passengers are advised to place items such as beverages, shampoo, suntan lotion, creams, toothpaste, hair gel, perfume and cologne with their check-in baggage. These items must be placed in the check-in baggage and will not be allowed past the security checkpoint.
Baby formula and breast milk will be allowed on the plane if a baby or small child is traveling. (Passengers will be prohibited from bringing juice aboard an aircraft.)
Prescribed medicine will be allowed aboard as long as the name on the medicine label matches the passenger’s ticket. Insulin and essential other non-prescription medicines will also be allowed.
Beverages may be purchased at the airport concession stands in the sterile areas, but must be consumed or disposed of before boarding the aircraft.
